An older brother used to say, "We could face persecution before this system ends, and the brothers will make sure you get your fair share!"

This is part of what they do to keep their non-profit tax exemption status. I remember one where we actually just read from the "Organized to accomplish your ministry". Ridiculous.

Congregation memorial stats
by nowwhat? in2 congregations met together attendance 355 which is close to exact number of combined publishers.
only saw a couple of new faces.
so it looks like once again the invitation work was a complete failure and relatives of jw's couldn't be talked into coming anymore!.

What's the best way to...
by jwundubbed ini am working on writing my autobiography.
i want to be able to use academic research as well as personal experience in my book.
and i would like to look at resources that members here would recommend.

Undubbed, great suggestions by Tenacious. I'm assuming you do not have any formal training in psychology. For an autobiography where you are stating your perspective and version of reality, just write it. If you are trying to add weight to your perspective you could skillfully use "peer reviewed articles". Meaning, an expert wrote about this subject and his peers in the profession have reviewed it and given their opinions. I can still log into my college web site and use their search engines.

I informed my family that the reason I will not be attending the memorial is because I believe Jesus is my mediator..
by joe134cd inanyway i got kind of cornered this morning about why i wouldn’t be attending the memorial.
i said i’m sorry i just can’t go because i believe that jesus is my mediator.
i guess you can imagine the conversation that ensued.

Yes, Lord Joe, you have done well. I remember when I found out this was the official WT teaching, I was angered.
(Governing Body Teaching) Jesus is not a mediator for "all mankind" I don't care what the scriptures say; just me, and I am given eternal life in a twinkling of the eye because I am one of the anointed Governing Body.
You keep on towing the line though, you see, even if you make it into the new system, you will be judged by me, one of the 144,000, and you will be tested again at the end of 1000 years, and "many will fall away", so, you probably won't make it. At this point in time, even if you pass the final test, you will not be considered a "son of God".
So, listen you little illegitimate bastard, you better shut up and do what we say and provide a cushy living for us while we are alive on earth, because of how we "mis-conned/screwed" and changed a comma, "if you do it to the least of these my brothers, you are doing it to me", because we are judging you for a 1000 years prior to your final test, and remember we can drop you dead in a minute if we think you are stepping out of line.
Get used to it "sucker"! You are my Bitch.

When did WT recently change the Insight on the Scriptures -- that 31 year old Bible encyclopedia?
by FatFreek 2005 ini would like to pinpoint when watchtower made a dramatic backward editorial change in their 31 year old insight on the scriptures, their flagship bible encyclopedia.
below, number 1 quotes the insight book as it appeared in the original release back in june 1988.. 1.
“this is also illustrated by what happened to the cities of sodom and gomorrah and their inhabitants.

Who is the better example in the congregation?
by BourneIdentity ina married brother with multiple children turns in 10 hours of time per month.
a group of single brothers ranging in age from 13-16 turn in 10 hours per month.
the married brother works full-time.

It's not a privilege to handle the microphones. If the Brother with a family has several young children he needs to be setting with the family to help the wife. Over load the wife with children during the meeting and she will have a grudge. Which is great, because someone may see the real truth about this pseudo religion.

Funeral Fashion
by ThinkerBelle ini have a funeral to attend for a non jw family member and the jdub family member reminded me that i should not wear black.
for the life of me, i can't recall where this belief came from in jw teachings and i'm born in.
is there something in print or is that just a personal opinion belief?

Wear Red, yes the Red dress that Rhett in Gone With the Wind would require of Scarlett. When they gasp for air, just smile and walk away.
